Getting a car insured in Hoboken is very expensive (0 for 6 months). Some of my friends use their friends address (Say Edison address) and get much cheaper quotes. What are the risks in doing this? My friend also had a claim with no problems (but it was a minor claim).

They are tripling my premiums because I am moving from OH to VA… My driving record has not been the greatest, but wtf VA!?

First off, at 16 you can’t get your own insurance (you have to be at least 18 for that), so your only source is your parents’ policy. Second, with a new, fairly expensive auto, your premiums, especially for physical damage (comp, collision) are going to be outrageous; there’s no other word for it.

You and your parents can alwsys shop the coverage–seems like every company out there can save you at least 5 over every other one–but be aware that no company wants to be competitive on 16-year-old drivers, no matter how good their GPA and how crashworthy the car. If you find a better price and want to change, be absolutely sure that the new company will write you so you’re not left hanging out there without coverage.
