Question by Jeremy: How much can you lie while obtaining new auto insurance?

I’d like to know… Whenever you’re trying to obtain new auto insurance they take your driver’s license number & social security number.. You’d think that they could look up any tickets/accidents you’ve gotten into. BUT, why do they ask?

If you “forget” an incident, will they find out?

This is coming from a 21 year old who was already paying ,200 over 6 months for insurance and was involved in an rear-end collision doing 15 in congestion on the interstate, now my premium is 00 for 6 months.

First they can tell, so why do they ask…easy.
They ask you, you lie, they give you insurance and you make first payment, they catch your record and then charge you max which you have to pay because you lied. Its higher then maybe you would have paid, they get you at the highest price they can charge where as before you might have walked away because of the high price.

I just turned 16 and I want a 2004 mustang that is for sale. It is a really good deal, so i was wondering how much auto insurance would be a year. I am a male, and I live in Texas. My dad is willing to pay up to 00 a year. Please help me! Thanks!

Mine was about twice that when I first started driving. That was with waiting until I was 17 to get my license, a good student discount, a discount for drivers education, and liability only insurance on a 12-year old 4-door car.

Four years later, I’m driving a newer car(’04) with a bigger engine, although still four door, with full coverage insurance and have had no accidents or any other moving violations since I got my license. My insurance is still in the neighborhood of 00 a year.

Based on my own case, I don’t think that any 16 year old will be able to get insurance on a Mustang for anywhere close to 00 a year. The insurance companies look at a young male driving a sports car, and see a huge potential for accidents.

The best thing you can do, though, is have your dad call his insurance agent and get an actual quote, rather than relying on what some random guy on the internet tells you.

Florida State Required auto insurance limits are not nearly enough insurance to carry especially if you live in a larger city in florida. What is a good acceptable liability limit to carry on my vehicles?

Great question and analysis. I wish more people would look at the laughable state minimums and recognize that they aren’t enough.

The answer depends on what you have for answers to protect, but I normally suggest a minimum of 100/300/100 for liability limits and 50/100 for uninsured and underinsured coverage.

Question by : Where could I check out what type of software auto insurance companies use?

I want to get a job at some auto insurance company and I have an interview coming up. They did ask if I knew how to use the software that they use. I don’t know it, so I wanted to take a quick peek at it before my interview. Is that possible at all, as long as it is not an ‘company only” software?

It is all “company only” (proprietary being the correct term) software. This stuff is expensive to build, so they keep it in-house. They also don’t want their competitors gaining an advantage.

It’s for a homework assignment.
I have Googled it, Yahoo’d it, been to every company’s web site I can think of. Anyone have any ideas?

My auto insurance premium seems to keep increasing. I drive a 2001 Nissan Altima and I’m paying over 0 a month. I have no accidents or speeding tickets on my record. My friend has a 2007 Pontiac G5 and he is paying 0. We use the same insurance company. This makes no sense to me. What seems to be happening?
I might also add that I live in Massachusetts and because we like to set ourselves apart from the rest of the nation, the state, rather than the insurance companies regulate the rates.

There could be a difference between the two types of coverage you and your friend selected. There are plenty of insurance companies so shop around and you might find a better price elsewhere.

Is it true that the more expensive your car is, the insurance will automatically go up, too? Isn’t the older car need more insurance cover since they are more easy to get into accident?

Your rates depend on your driving record, your car, your insurance needs, your credit and past history and where you live.
An older car is cheaper to insure because you will likely only need liability insurance.
