Question by Amanda S: Will my credit score improve when I take care of old debts?

I have many medical bills on my credit report that are very delinquent by more then 3 years. I didn’t have medical insurance and had a lot of kidney problems thus racked up the debt. I also have one bank account that was a joint account with my ex husband that I will pay off this year and one bad check which I will also be paying off this year. I have a auto loan that I have not had any late payments on and one auto lone showing payed in full. I also have a line of credit to a local furniture store that is almost payed off that also has no late payments. What else could I do to improve my credit? Is paying off the medical bills going to improve my score and ratings? Thanks

Answer by saved_astronaut
Yes, it helps. U MUST ask each creditor a Pay-4-Delete Agreement signed by them. NEVER pay w/o this in hand!!! U then negoti8 the debt & B open/honest w/ them, they’re humans, 2.

Question by DONALD T: What are your thoughts on this?

Barack Obama is the best thing that has happened to America in the last 100 years. Truly, he is the savior of America ‘s future.

Despite the fact that he has some of the lowest approval ratings among recent presidents, history will see Barack Obama as the source of America ‘s resurrection. Barack Obama has plunged the country into levels of debt that we could not have previously imagined; his efforts to nationalize health care have been met with fierce resistance nationwide; TARP bailouts and stimulus spending have shown little positive effect on the national economy; unemployment is unacceptably high and looks to remain that way for most of a decade; legacy entitlement programs have ballooned to unsustainable levels, and there is a seething anger in the populace.

That’s why Barack Obama is such a good thing for America. Here’s why.

Obama is the symbol of a creeping liberalism that has infected our society like a cancer for the last 100 years. Just as Hitler is the face of fascism, Obama will go down in history as the face of unchecked liberalism. The cancer metastasized to the point where it could no longer be ignored.

Average Americans who have quietly gone about their lives, earning a paycheck, contributing to their favorite charities, going to high school football games on Friday night, spending their weekends at the beach or on hunting trips – they’ve gotten off the fence. They’ve woken up. There is a level of political activism in this country that we haven’t seen since the American Revolution, and Barack Obama has been the catalyst that has sparked a restructuring of the American political and social consciousness.

Think of the crap we’ve slowly learned to tolerate over the past 50 years as liberalism sought to re-structure the America that was the symbol of freedom and liberty to all the people of the world. Immigration laws were ignored on the basis of compassion. Welfare policies encouraged irresponsibility, the fracturing of families, and a cycle of generations of dependency. Debt was regarded as a tonic to lubricate the economy. Our children left school having been taught that they are exceptional and special, while great numbers of them cannot perform basic functions of mathematics and literacy. Legislators decided that people could not be trusted to defend their own homes, and stripped citizens of their rights to own firearms. Productive members of society have been penalized with a heavy burden of taxes in order to support legions of do-nothings who loll around, reveling in their addictions, obesity, indolence, ignorance and “disabilities.” Criminals have been arrested and re-arrested, coddled and set free to pillage the citizenry yet again. Lawyers routinely extort fortunes from doctors, contractors and business people with dubious torts.

We slowly learned to tolerate these outrages, shaking our heads in disbelief, and we went on with our lives.

But Barack Obama has ripped the lid off a seething cauldron of dissatisfaction and unrest.

A former Communist is given a paid government position in the White House as an advisor to the president. Auto companies are taken over by the government, and the auto workers’ union – whose contracts are completely insupportable in any economic sense – is rewarded with a stake in the company. Government bails out Wall Street investment bankers and insurance companies, who pay their executives outrageous bonuses as thanks for the public support. Terrorists are read their Miranda rights and given free lawyers. And, despite overwhelming public disapproval, Barack Obama has pushed forward with a health care plan that would re-structure one-sixth of the American economy.

Literally millions of Americans have had enough. They’re organizing, they’re studying the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, they’re reading history and case law, they’re showing up at rallies and meetings, and a slew of conservative candidates are throwing their hats into the ring. Is there a revolution brewing? Yes, in the sense that there is a keen awareness that our priorities and sensibilities must be radically re-structured. Will it be a violent revolution? No. It will be done through the interpretation of the original document that has guided us for 220 “FANTASTIC” years— the Constitution. Just as the pendulum swung to embrace political correctness and liberalism, there will be a backlash, a complete repudiation of a hundred years of nonsense. A hundred years from now, history will perceive the year 2010 as the time when America got back on the right track. And for that, we can thank Barack Hussein Obama.

Question by Jason: What is a college-student-affordable car that’s fairly sporty looking, fun to drive, with good fuel ecomony?

I’m just a poor college student working full time and paying my way through school. I drive a decent older car now, but I’m about ready take a step up. I’d really like having a sporty, masculine looking car (preferably a sedan) that gets good gas mileage, has a clean, modern, light colored interior (leather would be an optimistic choice), reliable and easy to maintain, since I know very little about cars, and has good safety ratings.

Other things to know: I have a pretty firm budget of ,000. So I know my options are limited and I will have to make some compromises. And I’ll be needing to purchase insurance for this car, and since I am a male and less than 25 years old, insurance rates are incredibly high for me (by the way, any tips on getting good quality, but cheaper auto ins. for my age and sex group?), so that also has to effect my decision of what car to purchase. I know that the kind of car it is has an influence on insurance rates.

I appreciate your help. I’m just a poor college guy with little money to spend and not a lot of experience or knowledge about car buying. So thanks.

Your Aunt Crazy has just hit the lottery and has decided to give you money to purchase a car. She has decided to give you 0.00 a month towards your purchase. This money needs to be used to purchase a car and pay for insurance (“Your Fault” is not an insurance company). You now have the opportunity to buy any car that will fit into your budget. Before you begin, you are asked to trade in any car in your family to help with your finances. Enjoy the shopping experience!!

Task
Your cover will consist of a title. You may use any title you wish. This page must also include your name, class period and date. Be creative and design a cover that is colorful and interesting.
Your second page will be the specifics of your new car. This will include all of the options and the price that were quoted by the dealer. You may add a picture of this car if you can find one.
The third page will be specifics on the vehicle that you traded in, including the price that was suggested by Kelley Blue Book or Edmunds.
The fourth page will explain the payment for your new car including the insurance that you will purchase for the car and the monthly breakdown for both payments.
The fifth page will be economy information on your car such as mileage in city and open roads. Also included on this page will be a safety rating for your trade-in vehicle and the new car that you are purchasing. You must provide two examples of cars that have the safest rating and two that have the poorest ratings. Give a brief explanation on why two cars you chose have a poor rating. Also on this page, you are to explain the “Lemon Law” and provide information on this law that protects consumers.
The sixth page will be dedicated to scams. You are to search the resources to find 4 dealer scams and 4 insurance scams that you should be aware of when purchasing a car and insurance.
The seventh and final page will consist of a detailed explanation on how to jump start your car. You can also find this information in the resources provided for you. Lastly, you must give credit for information that you borrowed from a source. Always give credit where credit is due!!

Question by germanbeemer: Now since that event of someone trying to steal my porsche 911 i have desided to sell it(its only been a week)

So since its a 2000 porsche and has parts people want i have decided to sell it and i had just bought it “how good things leave so fast”, but i still have not given up on the porsche plan, since the 00 porsche inscurance was high, i need octane 91 gas, and an atemptend theft i am selling it for a less valued Porsche 911.
——-
The 1990-1994 Porsche 911(964)
Its seem like thefts don’t want it as much, and i can use less high octane gas ,and insurance should be less and i don’t have to worry about it now to much.
I want a grey exterior, any interior, auto if i can get it.
My question about a 964 porsche, theft ratings, MPG, average estimate cost to maintain one a year(drive 50miles all day and 40 on weekends), and safety, & quality of parts. My 00 porsche is great but its to much of a hasltle. i will be searching for a 964 starting tomorrow. NO 4 or S or Turbo JUST the basic to keep cost, insuracne, theft, and gas consumption down. Also the size of the trunk.

Question by clint16s: How would you boycott the BCS?

Lots of people are talking about boycotting the Bowl Championship Series in the wake of this weekend’s ratings. How does anyone plan on doing that? Are you going to boycott everything PepsiCo’s involved with (they own Tostitos, among about a billion other brands), dump your home, auto and life insurance (Allstate), Fedex and maybe even your bank or mutual funds (Citi)? Because I can’t think of another way to do it. These folks are too big and too dug in for a boycott to work, whether you watch the game or not.

Best answer:

Answer by juicetke
Money talks. If someone could raise enough money to give 8 teams more than they would get from their bowl game we could have an 8 team playoff. Teams can decline bowl invitations.

That would then taint the title won by whoever won the BCS championship game.

Think about it. Wouldn’t you rather watch a playoff than some no names in some bowls?

Question by dorios: finance & insurance in Houston?

hi, I’ll be moving to Houston next month from Australia and would like to ask a local which are the best banks and (auto)insurance companies. Of course, one can always go directly to Chase, BoA or Wells Fargo but do these offer the best service? The net banking is probably the feature I am most interested in. Also, in terms of car insurance, what is your experience. Based on my research and ratings I was contemplating Amica or Nationwide. Much appreciated thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by rubypoppins
Nationwide is the best insurance I have ever had.
I am very happy with wells fargo, however capitalone.com has just opened up banks all over Houston, you might want to check them out.

Question by etinge2: Why does ones Credit Rating have anything to do with Auto insurance?

To be honest I don’t feel that a persons credit rating have anything to do with car insurance. A quote should be an honest quote of what it cost per month and per year. Either you pay your car insurance or not. What risk is this to the Insurance company? It can be canceled by the company if payment is not made. The company doesn’t pay for an accident that occur if the policy is not in force. There is no loss to them. What is the point of making someone pay a higher premium if they haven’t had an accident nor was it their fault. This is unfair racking it in. Who made this policy to base it on your credit rating? The economy is in a depression right now so many people will have bad credit ratings and those who have fallen into this mess now will have higher payments and have never had an accident or it wasn’t their fault. They are not responsible for the deficit we have today. All rates should depend on Make, Model and Year of your car. A Credit Rating has nothing to do with paying your monthly amount for coverage. Can you tell me why, if no accidents have been caused?

Best answer:

Answer by tori a
They want to have some assurance that you are going to pay them back.

Can you tell me why, if no accidents have been caused? It doesn’t have a feasible answer to me.

Best answer:

Answer by seaportma
In a nutshell, (statistically) people who have a poor credit score are more likely to file a claim.

Actuarial studies show that how a person manages his or her financial affairs, which is what an [insurance score] indicates, is a good predictor of insurance claims. Insurance scores, plus other factors such as age, driving record, make and model of your car, and how many insurance claims have been filed in the past, are used to help insurers differentiate between lower and higher insurance risks and thus charge a premium equal to the risk they are assuming.

The goal of every insurance company is to correlate rates for insurance policies as closely as possible with the actual cost of claims. If insurers set rates too high they will lose market share to competitors who have more accurately matched rates to expected costs. If they set rates too low they will lose money.

Some states ban the use of credit scores as a consideration. This might been seen as benefiting those in lower economic groups — but others in the risk pool are subsidizing these people (from a statistical perspective).
