Question by Danno: Does anyone know where I can find a list of average auto insurance rates by vehicle?

We have a 16 yr old daughter whos looking for her first car. We wanted to find a list (if one exists) of average insurance rates to see which cars cost the least to insure. This way she’ll know which cars she can afford. Thank You.

Best answer:

Answer by denfasr
Welcome to the club! We have tried a few and changed to one that saved us over 00.00 per year. We tried all the others and got so many quotas it made our head spin. So for the last 5 years we have been with AARP Hartford Ins. We have two boys on the policy, one 21 and the other is 17 with three cars. The type of car has very little to do with insurance rates. It is mostly figured on the people driving. A good example of this is to indicate that if you rent a vehicle and you contact your insurance company they will tell you not to buy the extra insurance because you “YOU” are insured and therefore what ever your policy is will cover you in the rental. Our policy for 3 cars and 4 drivers; Mon, dad, boy 21 and boy 17 with AARP in the State of Texas is just under 00.00 a year. Progressive wanted over 00.00 a year to one boy. With AARP you will have to become a member and the fee there is .00 — well spent money..

Question by Carolanne M: What’s a good website for comparing auto insurance rates in Massachusetts?

I don’t feel like paying ,000 for insurance on a car that’s worth barely that, but I don’t know where to find a better deal. Any good resources for comparing rates? I’m in Massachusetts.

Best answer:

Answer by Brandon H
00 sounds a bit high if the car is only worth that much. The best thing you can do is to compare quotes online for 3-5 different insurance companies. The more quotes you get, the more of a chance you will have to get the lowest rate possible. I am not sure which company offered you that rate, but don’t settle for anything you think is too high. Keep looking until you find something that you feel comfortable with. There are too many different companies out there to go with a company that is going to overcharge you.

The site below is really helpful because it allows you to compare quotes for all of the insurance companies in your area for free so you can find the cheapest rate possible.

Good Luck!

Question by C.B.: Are auto insurance rates determined by credit score & not driving record?

I see a lot of people complain that they have a good driving record but bad credit & their insurance rates go up..
Is having good credit better then having a good driving record?

Best answer:

Answer by David L
A good driving record is better than a good credit rating. A good driving record shows that you are less likely to have an accident. A bad credit rating means nothing as long as you keep making the insurance payments on time.

Question by Drago: Why do women get lower Auto insurance rates?

Why do women get lower auto insurance rates I am a 23y/o male and pay the same rate as a 20 y/o female and I have a clean record. I found that it is roughly 15-20% for the opposite sex, and even women with violations can still manage to have a lower rate than men who have clean records. Is there any real reason behind this or just another way Auto insurance companies like to take our money.

Best answer:

Answer by William
Men tend to be more aggressive drivers?

Statistically, the insurance companies pay out the same to 23 y/o male drivers as to 20 y/o female drivers.

Question by alica schnell: Is there a significant difference in auto insurance rates when someone turn 25 years old?

I had a friend who worked in auto insurance for a few months, he said that it is all a myth, which is hard to believe. I live in California, and I wanted to get a nicer car when I’m older but insuance is going to be a killer.

Best answer:

Answer by BrokerGopher.com
It is not a myth. The actual age may vary between different insurance companies, but, the principal is the same. Actuaries are the people in insurance companies who stare at numbers all day and study just about any statistic regarding insurance you can think of. Some companies may decrease a portion of the policy’s premium once, for example, a male turns 25. This is due to studies showing men somewhat fully mature at this age, and are less prone to driving like a maniac. I certainly didn’t drive like that when I was younger than 25, but, everyone is different.

Try quoting your insurance online. Hopefully you can get a good quote. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised!

Answer by 3ntropy
25 is the magical age for insurance companies. For a single male, this moves you from high-risk to the low-risk category…cause now you really know how to drive.

Answer by Judy
I don’t know of any.
Don’t forget that employers also check credit ratings.
You will be turned down for the better jobs.
Consider a book on Credit Repair.
And never use more than 30% of your avialble credit on your credit cards.
For good credit – pay your credit card in full each month.
They may show you quotes from other companies – but they will be false.
Also, they do not display other companies that they know are lower than them.
It’s sort of a scam.

Try Geico.com
Consider a high deductible – and don’t get any of the extras.
If your car is paid off, get liability only which can save you thousands a year.
