I received a quote for an auto insurance and they require a deposit and then the first premium payment..Will the deposit be refundable? Why is there a deposit?

Why didn’t you ask these questions when you got the quote? Deposits are refundable if you cancel the policy and do not owe them any money.

hi, we need homeowner insurance in order to close the house next week.
here is the quotes i got from States Farm. i know they are pretty good in auto insurance, but what about homeowner and flood ?
house coverage 100k
interior properties coverage : 20k
full cover everything
85 annually. what you think at this current rate?

another quote cheaper for $ 1491 annually but the value of coverage will be DEPRECIATED every year AND no hurricane evacuation coverage.!
which one would you choose ? why ?

It would help greatly if you tell us what city and state you live in. It sounds pretty expensive to me and I live in TX where our insurance is quite high due to the exposure to hail, tornado hurricane and this year forest fire.

Without other info, it might be best to go to an independent agent (he will represent more than one company) and get him to quote you in several different companies. State Farm guys only represent State Farm and they will only quote you one company. Take it or leave it.

I was in my boyfriend’s truck and backed into our garage door. I called my auto ins. to ask if I needed to make a claim or if he did since it was his truck. They said he should, and he did. I recently was getting ins. quotes and found out it is on my record, even though his insurance paid for the damages.

my auto insurance already gave me a quote and check my license everything and offer me 1800 for 6months then after july the agent called and said the underwrite said to increase the quote to 2200? can your insurance do that? after you already paid down payment? thanks

Yes they can, but there is usually a documented reason. Usually the rate increase will come to you in the form of a letter from the actual company, though. Did they explain the reason? Some reasons could be something that showed up on your credit report like your living arrangements were different than previously stated at the time of sale, My experience is the rate increase comes from discounts that were given at the time of sale, like paperless, multi-line, homeowner…then the insured, fails to go online and register their policy, or they failed to bring in the proof of current insurance or multi-line policy, or proof of home ownership or something of that nature. You could always shop your rates with another agent, just to make sure you got a good deal. Some of these new companies, I wont mention any names, give an introductory rate and it will be significantly lower than other standard insurance companies, but then they do exactly what they did to you a couple of months down the road…they raise the rates!
