Question by tim m: how much should i pay for full coverage auto insurance?

27 year old male driving 2002 ford ranger accident in 2003 accident and ticket-driving too fast for condition crashed on a snowy night in 2007 and driving on median in 12/09 currently paying 550 every 6 months w state farm

Best answer:

Answer by Jakester
Your location and car are also factors that an accurate quote would consider, I just had a glance at the state of N.Y. Insurance Dept sample rates, they showed relatively high prices for State Farm, they showed rates for one of the companies with a mascot that were 1/2 as much. It’s common to see a 4/1 range of prices among all the companies that operate in a given state, these dramatic variation in prices remind one to shop around, don’t assume your getting a ‘standard’ price.

Question by shaawanwa: What does ‘first person” coverage mean in auto insurance?

Best answer:

Answer by lucy
in simplistic terms you are the one with the contract with the insurance company.

3rd party does not have a contract with your company, but can file a claim for liability either of their auto or injuries if you are found at fault in an accident.

as 1st person, the insurance contract spells out specifically your rights.
ie; coverage
what to do in an accident
any exclusions etc.

their duties are to you 1st since you have the contract with them. in most accidents, the insurance prefers to talk to their own insured 1st then to the 3rd party.

hope that makes sense

Question by kolorz: will full coverage auto insurance cover bodily injury?

the person was hit on a bicyle and their shoulder was broken.

Best answer:

Answer by trooper3316
“Full” coverage generally has three provisions: Liability, Comprehensive, and Collision.

Liablity takes care of others when you are at fault. Comprehensive would be hail damage, vandalism, etc. Collision covers your car in an accident.

A full coverage policy would cover bodily injury to someone else under the liability provision.

Question by : What is the cheapest FULL COVERAGE car insurance please?

Please, I need really cheap full coverage auto insurance. Any help is appreciated.

Best answer:

Answer by Twilitewinter
Your insurance premium will depend on a lot of factors, such as age, gender, vehicle, driving record ( meaning how many claims you have had in the preceding 6 years), where you live, if you have any traffic convictions and how much insurance history you have had.

Its difficult to determine who would be cheapest until you actually ask the companies for a quote based on the above info.

I know it’s not incredibly helpful, but maybe now you will have an idea of the things you should know before getting a quote.

Question by : Geico Auto Insurance Full coverage Claim question? plz help!!!?

I have FULL coverage for my 2007 car which is on Geico Auto insurance for almost a year now. I don’t use this car most of the time. Maybe once a month or so. Today, I drove it to work and when I was leaving the car in the parking lot, I noticed some dents (like hail damage) Its maybe about 20 of them on the right side of the car. Its shows and its just dents like hail damage BUT it did not damage the paint tho. Just small one inch dents and dots.

I don’t know when it happened. It could have happened during to recent Irene storm or maybe some one damaged the car ( its looks like some one had a metal chain and hit the car) idk, maybe!

But I am not sure when it happened or how it happened. It must have happened during last 2 months but I didn’t noticed it until now.

So, since I have full coverage, does Geico will pay for it? What should I tell them since I don’t know when and how it happened?

Best answer:

Answer by oklatom
Yes, they will pay less your deductible.

As to what you should tell them, the truth, that you just noticed it.

What do you think? Answer below!

For auto insurance in CA, do I have to have “Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury” coverage? Is this one important? Thank you!

Best answer:

Answer by awakeatdawn
No you don’t have to have it to drive legally, but it can be useful in some areas. If you are in an accident with someone who does not have liability insurance (illegal to drive this way) Uninsured motorist coverage will pay for the damages. If you don’t have this coverage, and they don’t have insurance, you are stuck paying for the damage yourself. You can always try to sue, but you can only take money if they have money. This insurance will pay for your bills if you are harmed in an accident with an uninsured motorist. Only you can decide if it is worth it.

Question by nazirp: Does our daughter have auto insurance coverage with her company A ?

Our daughter got married last April. She owned a vehicle and insured it under Company A.
She sold her vehicle 3 weeks ago and drives her husband vehicle. Her husband is insured with Jevco and the only coverage he has on his vehicle is very limited partial liability for a premium of monthly. My daughter wants to retain her policy with Company A and wants to transfer her husband’s vehicle on her policy. She is willing to have the vehicle transferred in her name, insure with Company A and be listed as the principal driver with full liability coverage. However, Company told her to have Jevco send her husband’s experience letter to them. They will review and then add the vehicle.
They have told her in the interim she is covered under their policy for full coverage.
To date Jevco has not given them the experience letter.
Company A has not deducted a premium from my daughter’s account.
We are concerned that if our daughter has an accident while driving her husband’s vehicle, Jevco will have to respond and since they do not have full liability coverage,
they could be in a serious financial situation and as parents we worry …..would company A pay any part of an accident claim ? This situation is for Ontario , Canada.
Our daughter keeps assuring us not to worry and that company A has told her that she has
full coverage with them in case of any accident. But we are not so sure.

Best answer:

Answer by mbrcatz
First of all, daughter would have to call company A to ask if the policy is still in force.

She CAN transfer husband’s car to her policy, and add him as a driver, as the named insured almost always reads, the person named on the policy, and their spouse. That’s different, though, than legally transferring the title of the car over to her name.

She’s covered under her policy, BUT, there are restrictions and exclusions, and ONE of them, is “while driving a vehicle owned by you or a household member, when that vehicle is NOT scheduled on the policy”.

Company A, will NOT pay any part of a claim for a household vehicle that is NOT listed as a vehicle, on their policy. Otherwise, people who own more than one car, would only EVER insure one car, because the policy would carry over to all the other vehicles – free insurance! Not.

She is misunderstanding or misinterpreting the coverage language that they are telling her. YES, her policy would respond to any accident when she’s driving a vehicle not regularly available for her use, not owned by her or her spouse, or any household member. Unfortunately, this car is one of those vehicles.

Although I understand your concern, frankly, daughter is a grown woman, married and on her own. Yes, there can be a serious financial result of her inattention to her insurance. Her problem.
