Answer by Mr. Prefect
Upon getting this position with State Farm, you should have already been informed about commission. You must have a booklet also stating the breakdown.
Just remember, selling insurance is not an easy task. You need a constant endless army of potential customers, or there will be no commission.

Question by 007: Do you have to reinstate your license first before you get auto insurance?

I went to go get car insurance and everything went fine 30 minutes later I recieve a call from the insurance agent telling me it just came through that my license has been suspended and she cant create any kind of plan for me until I get my license or talk to the DMV people..So the little plan we set up has to be redone.

I’m eligible to get them back anytime i want I just have to pay a reinstatement fee. Could that be the reason I cant get auto insurance now? Do I have to pay that fee first before the suspention status be remove?

Thanks

Best answer:

Answer by what
State to state laws will vary especially within the DMV. Technically you can ensure a vehicle without a drivers Iicense since it is the vehicle getting insured. If you own a car but cant drive lets say and have a driver, you still have to get the vehicle insured to have it street legal in accordance with state laws.
The catch 22 is most insurance providers will require a valid drivers licence to obtain car insurance. Also after they found out you were on suspension it sounds like they wanted to do a more thorough background check to make sure nothing else is hiding they do not know about.
Just go pay the fee and get your license before it causes you more problems.

Question by phl: Would an accident that wasn’t my fault be in my record when switching auto insurance?

I was hit by a car on the left side of my car, damaging the top bumper and fender as well as scratching the entire left side of the car. The right side of her headlight fell off and I believe she damaged the bumper. A police was there, and she admitted that she hit my car, so it is in the police report. Being that this is my first accident, I was clueless on the procedures to follow after the accident such as informing my insurance about the accident or calling her insurance directly to inform that I’ve been hit by one of their customer. I was told by people that if I inform my insurance and submit a claim even though I wasn’t at fault, it will be in my record although my premium doesn’t increase. However, if I inform her insurance directly and resolve this by myself proving that she was at fault, and then have her insurance pay for the damages on my car, then my insurance wouldn’t have any record of the accident. Out of uncertainty, I called my insurance and reported the accident and submitted a claim, which hasn’t been resolved yet. If the finalized outcome is put against her, and my premium remains the same as I and my insurance wouldn’t have to pay for the damages on my car, would I need to report this to other insurance companies when I want to switch auto insurance? I’m confused and need some clarification on this. Not sure how appropriate it is to ask my insurance agent about this subject. Any advice would be great! Thank you in advance!

Best answer:

Answer by svtcobralvr
No . If they ask you if you’ve had any accidents in the past three years, they mean chargable accidents . Just tell them no.

Question by S: Auto insurance litigation asset check?

I was involved in an accident at my fault and the claim against me was more than my liability limit (release amount they call it). The other insurance agent told me that they will take the claim to their litigation department for further processing. I’m thinking that this means litigation department will conduct a asset check on me. What is going on? Whats going to happen? I can’t afford to pay the difference that they are requesting..

Best answer:

Answer by Rick A
It doesn’t matter if they do you had the legal liability insurance so you are covered. They’d have to take you to small claims court to get any money from you and then again there, theyd have the win the case and then again..they’d have to collect.

Question by : Can I get Iowa and Colorado insurance policies bundled?

I am not happy with my current agent and would like to shop for new. I need 3 types of insurance: 1 – a home I own in another state (Iowa) that I currently rent out. 2 – renters insurance for my current residence (Colorado). 3 – auto insurance (Colorado). The agents I have contacted have an easy enough time with my auto and renters, but when it comes to including my home in another state, they say they can’t help me. I’d like one agent, one company. Any suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by mbrcatz
Ah, those are easy states!

So what you want to do, is contact a LARGE carrier – Travelers comes immediately to mind – and ask them if they have any agents licensed in both Colorado and Iowa.

Alternatively, you can call the insurance company that CURRENTLY writes your business, and ask them if they have any OTHER agents, currently licensed in both states, that can take over your account with a broker of record letter.

MOST multi licensed agencies aren’t going to write personal lines. I checked with the one I’m familiar with, and they aren’t licensed in Iowa. Depending on where you live, it’s likely that the agent won’t be local to you, but you SHOULD be able to find one – maybe by asking the agents who cannot do it, if they know any larger brokerage in the area, that might be able to do it.

Question by Bernie A: Is there a drawback to adding fiancee to auto insurance?

My agent is telling me to add my Fiancee to my car insurance policy which saves me about 0 over six months. They are not insuring her vehicle but simply adding her name to my policy as a significant other. Are there any draw backs to doing this?

Best answer:

Answer by Kizzy
Not really, if she’s got a good driving record which it sounds like she’s does. Really just need to make sure your relationship is solid prior to doing so.

Make sure they add her just as an additional driver. Your listed as the ‘named insured’. If she’s included in this ‘named insured’ status, she’s able to make changes to the policy. Also, if things ever change you’ll be able to remove her from the policy if she’s just listed as an additional driver.

The site in question is https://www.grizridge.com/MTUzMzd8OTY5fDYzODExMnx2Mg==/5nn6v4b9/g

The content of the email states ” February 16th, 2010 OVER 18? NEW LAWS PASSED New laws just passed to allow residents of the US to get auto insurance for less than a month Click to see if you qualify”

Now I know this is bogus and not looking to hear that. I’m wondering if anyone knows more details about the scam and what not so I can inform my customers that bring this up..

Thanks for your help.

Answer by Scott H
You’re an insurance agent, and you’re asking if auto insurance for less than a month is a scam? Of course it is. Perhaps the lure of ridiculously cheap auto insurance will attract suckers to the website which is a front for a phishing operation or the installation of a worm or virus on the pc. McAfee blocked the website for a reason.

I am quite new to owing a car and getting insurance, when obtaining quotes what are some of the questions that you ask the insurance agent? Also, are there different policies that cover if your vehicle is stolen or does this come in the standard policy? Any other useful info that anyone could provide will be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer by Trixi
if you are still paying payments on the car, then you will need comp and collision (which cover theft) If not, the state required should be enough (unless you want the extra coverage)

Just use a big company like Gieco, e-surance, state farm… someone you’ve heard of. That’s the safest bet. Shop around for the lowest price. They will ask you for your vin number, license number, date of birth… all stuff you should know.

the other thing you will need to decide is how much you will pay if you are in an accident or your car is stolen. Usually you can pay 0, 0 or 00. You’re insurance will be cheaper if you are willing to pay 00, but if you get into an accident, you will need to come up with 00. Most people go for the 0. I have been driving for 15 years and have never had an accident, plus I have an extra thousand dollars to use if I need it, so I have a 00 deductible. That choice is yours.

Last you will have to pick how much coverage you want. If you don’t own anything but your car, just get the state required amount. If you get sued, you have nothing to lose but your credit rating. If you have stuff you want to protect (like a house another car, a spouses income…) then you will want a little more coverage, maybe 50,000/100,000. Also, if you live with your parents you will want the bigger insurance because the person you hit could sue your parents. Good luck!
